Dating sites: Who signs up? from Excellence's blog

Who are we looking for in the Internet?

Are dating website good place to find true love or are they only for people looking for one night adventure? Is it possible to find here our future wife or husband?

Everything depends on what kind of dating site we visit. If the site is for people from nearest neighborhood we can assume that most of its members will prefer quick meetings after just days or weeks talking online. When the distances are bigger it usually takes months before the meeting is set so it is a good place for shy and patient people.

What kind of people can we find on online dating sites?

There are numbers of reasons for people to log on dating sites. They`re not only for desperate people for whom it`s a last resort. Polish woman who calls herself Kicia112 says she is from a little town and there is no place where she could meet someone new or interesting, with whom she could date. Another Pole does not believe it is possible to meet an attractive person in a club or a pub and she prefers to have a long talk with someone in the web rather than few words over a drink.

Some people are just shy and for them dating sites  are safe places where they can chat with someone without the risk of being laughed down or rejected. Talking via Internet is the solution for those who find it hardly possible to put a sentence together in front of attractive person and for those who need time to open for another human being. Then, when there is time for the first meeting, there are some topics to talk about and no one feels embarrassed.

Of course, you can also find some people who signed up only for having a good time and they look only for admiration and flirt, not love. Those can be people in serious relationships who do not intend to cheat on their partner but just want to feel attractive again. This is usually quite simple to disguise them, though. They look for compliments and attention but they show any of this to another person.

  • Your 30s are certainly not the dating wasteland that popular culture makes them out to be, but dating in your 30s does require some deliberation and effort. For whatever reason, maybe you didn't spend your 20s submerged in the dating scene -- perhaps you were focusing on your career instead, or moving around a lot, or dating simply wasn't a priority during your wild, youthful partying days.

  • Unless you're in an open, polyamorous relationship, engaging sexually with someone who isn't your partner is almost always considered cheating. And as far as the topic of cheating goes, the general consensus is that it's wrong. No ifs, ands or buts.

But the reasons behind why people cheat, what actually constitutes cheating in a relationship, and the whole issue of whether or not a couple can ev...

  • Women love flowers. I try to avoid gender stereotypes, but it's true, we do. With so many flowers to choose from, there's a bouquet for every woman and occasion, be it surprising someone you really like on the first date with lilies, or an elegant long-stem rose collection for your 25th anniversary. A blossom literally is the reproductive structure of a plant, so it's pure animal instinct that ...

  • No matter how many hints she may have dropped, when the occasion calls for buying a gift for your wife, your mind inevitably draws a blank. And understandably so, because the whole ordeal can be overwhelming -- far from the straightforward process you're used to when grabbing a gift for your buddy. For starters, there are so many options to choose from. Head to the women's section of any depart...

  • Once the first one of your friends ties the knot, it inevitably starts the domino effect. Before you know it, logging on to any of your social media accounts means you're bombarded with photos of friends sharing the news that their significant other said yes. And if you're in a relationship, that means you have not one, but two groups of friends that might pop the question at any time in the ne...

  • Like the best things in life, most meal kit delivery services -- Blue Apron, Green Chef, etc -- are tailored for people in relationships. This is an injustice only to single people. Couples, however, benefit from a world that caters to their mutual affection and commitment. For them, there are not just meal kit delivery services, but a plethora of subscription boxes they may choose from. And al...

  • The Dating Nerd is a shadowy figure whose whereabouts and identifying details remain unknown. What we do know is that he is really, really good at dating. He’s been on more dates than you can shake a lengthy bar tab at, and he’s here to help the average guy step his dating game up a notch -- or several.

    The Question

    Hi Dating Nerd,

Up until last week, I had a great relationship going with my new g...
